Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that former Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for his club Villarreal.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that Villarreal have approached Tottenham for Lo Celso.

Romano has added that Tottenham and Lyon have an agreement in place for the £27.2 million midfielder (BBC Sport) to move to the French club on loan.

However, Lo Celso has yet to agree to that deal.

And now, according to Romano, Villarreal have made a move for the 25-year-old central midfielder.

The Yellow Submarine are now managed by former Arsenal boss Emery.

Villarreal are aiming to finish in the top four of the La Liga table this season.

Giovani Lo Celso’s Tottenham exit inevitable

In our view, it seems inevitable that Lo Celso will leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.

At least on loan.

The Argentina international central midfielder was left out of the Premier League game against Chelsea despite being fit.

In our opinion, it suggests that Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte does not really rate Lo Celso highly.

A move to Lyon or Villarreal would see the Tottenham midfielder get more playing time, and, in our view, he should seriously look into those options.
