Nottingham Forest secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup with a strong 3-1 victory away to Swindon Town on Saturday.

Forest produced an encouraging display, with forward Arvin Appiah producing an impressive performance, as reported by the club’s official website.

An England U17 international with vast potential, Appiah caused all manner of problems for the Swindon defence with his pace.

Forest opened the scoring just before half time courtesy of a goal from Riley Harbottle, who finished well from close range.

Swindon managed to equalise early in the second period through Teoman Atik but Appiah then took control as Forest sealed their progression.

Appiah, 16, managed to restore Forest’s lead when he sped forwards before finding the net with a clinical finish.

Further gloss was then added to the scoreline by Luke McCormick, who scored with a free-kick.

Forest’s reward for prevailing in this fixture is a home tie against Leicester City, which will take place next month.

Appiah, meanwhile, will hope that his encouraging display will see him edge closer to breaking into the first-team squad.
