Well, Liverpool clearly have one eye on the future and have done for some time.
Two years ago, they snapped up Harvey Elliott from Fulham and now the 18-year-old looks set to stay with Jurgen Klopp’s senior side this season after dazzling in some friendlies during the summer.
Earlier this year, Liverpool also signed Kaide Gordon from Derby County and the 16-year-old has already impressed Klopp in training.
And who can forget the teenage Mateusz Musialowski – dubbed the Polish Messi – who arrived on Merseyside last August.
Yep, Klopp certainly has a lot of talented teenagers in the ranks – and there could be another one on the way.
According to The Chronicle, Liverpool are set to sign Bobby Clark from Newcastle United, with Lee Ryder of that publication writing that it’ll be considered a ‘big blow’ for the St James’s Park club, such is his talent.
Here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted on Twitter:
Restless
There’s a lot of other Liverpool supporters who are mocking this transfer, given the lack of senior players arriving at the club.
Ibrahima Konate remains as the Reds’ only summer acquisition – and even he was signed as far back as May.
The natives are restless, but Clark isn’t being signed as a senior player and therefore no target is being overlooked for the sake of this one going through.
