The Tottenham Hotspur defender admitted his frustration at not featuring against Arsenal.

After an interview given by Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose following the North London derby, published online by Sky Sports, one word was jumped on by headline writers everywhere and fans were quick to follow.
But in context, the Spurs left-back was only saying what every footballer would think after missing out on such a huge game.

Rose was “fuming” to have been overlooked for the match, but when you read the entire comment, the criticism seems harsh.
“There was no argument, no bust up,” the Tottenham defender said. “I was fuming, yes, but it should be obvious any player should be unhappy that they’re not involved in the biggest game of the season.”
Yes, that interview earlier this year means some Tottenham fans will never forgive Rose, no matter how long he remains in north London. But his latest comments were only the honest words of a player who was desperate to play.

If anyone else had said it, no one would have batted an eyelid. In fact that player would probably have been praised for his passion. But when Rose says it he is slammed from all sides.
There are things the left-back should not have said, with his comment about Googling some of Tottenham’s recent signings living long in the memory. Yet being angry about being overlooked is far better than not caring at all.
Some Tottenham players may have been grateful for the day off, but not Rose, who wanted to get one over the club’s greatest rivals.
That was not to be, yet for once the player does not deserve the vitriol coming his way.
