Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Sao Paulo talent Brenner – but don’t rule Ajax out of the race for him.
The Daily Mail report that Arsenal are looking to sign Brenner, who has a £45million release clause in his contract, but could be sold for half of that amount.
A host of clubs want to sign Brenner, though Arsenal may look to sign him in a move reminiscent of their 2019 deal for Gabriel Martinelli.
Brenner also has an Italian passport, just like Martinelli did when he joined from Ituano, and he’s also a versatile attacker like Martinelli.
Ajax have been suggested as a potential destination for Brenner, given their work in the Brazilian market in recent times.
David Neres became a star at Ajax, and Antony is now following suit having hit five goals in seven games following his summer move from Sao Paulo.
Both Neres and Antony came from Sao Paulo, so what about Brenner turning down Arsenal to make a move to Amsterdam?

Antony has suggested to ESPN that he thinks Brenner is a ‘great player’ and the pair are very close, but he isn’t going to try and force him to join Ajax any time soon, meaning Arsenal could still win the race – but should be wary of Brenner’s relationship with the Ajax star.
“Gosh, Brenner is a great player and he plays a lot,” said Antony. “The question about Ajax lies with him, I haven’t really talked to him about it, but I do follow Brenner. His statistics are very good. I talk to him a lot and I congratulate him every time.”
“I know his qualities. He’s got the chance now and I know he’s enjoying it in the best way. I am very happy for Brenner, he is like a brother to me,” he added.
