The Bologna stopper has hinted that the next few days could be important for his future.
Speaking exclusively to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web, Bologna goalkeeper Antonio Mirante has admitted that he has been paying attention to the rumours surrounding his future and could make a final decision in the coming days.
The news comes after Tutto Bologna Web claimed Bologna had targeted Leeds United stopper Marco Silvestri if their first-choice ‘keeper leaves this summer.
Silvestri has struggled for game time at Elland Road since the arrival of Rob Green, failing to make a single appearance in Leeds’ heartbreaking Championship campaign and managing only four appearances in the EFL Cup and two in the FA Cup.
In total the Italian has racked up 93 appearances for Leeds since his arrival, yet at 26 he will be desperate to play week in, week out.
For that reason he would be forgiven for paying close attention to Mirante’s comments.
“I know of the transfer market rumours,” Mirante told TMW. “We will see in the next few days. But it is also true that I have a contract with Bologna for two more years.”
Only time will tell how this one plays out, but the fact that Mirante has suggested things could happen in the next few days – despite citing his contract at Bologna – means Leeds could see a bid heading their way for a player they should sell for his own benefit, especially with Bailey Peacock-Farrell waiting in the wings.
