Antonio Conte told Tuesday afternoon’s press conference – as per Football London – that he needs more than just 100% from Harry Kane as Tottenham look to keep their dwindling top-four hopes alive against Brighton.
Spurs failed to stop an inspired Cristiano Ronaldo performance at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, as the Portuguese legend scored a wonderful hat-trick. United beat Spurs 3-2, almost ending Tottenham’s top-four hopes.
Inconsistency has proved to be too big a hurdle for Conte and Spurs to overcome – losing four of their last seven Premier League matches. Kane, though, is back to his brilliant best for Spurs – scoring his 21st on Saturday.
Asked about the improving England skipper ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Brighton, Conte said that while Kane is a very important player for Spurs – he needs more than just 100%, as much as 130% from the Spurs striker.
“You know what I think about Harry. He is a really, really important player for us. 100% is not enough, we need 120% or 130% to achieve this target. It’s very important to have these type of people to lead us and get close.”

But finishing in fifth place is at least a sign of improvement. Spurs finished in seventh last season on 62 points. Currently in eighth but with games in hand and 33 points to play for, there is a real chance they can improve.
However, Conte has learned the Spursy way. The inconsistency has been a killer, and Spurs need to rid themselves of that if they are to achieve bigger and better next season. Better players are needed in the summer window.
