Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Dejan Kulusevski can explode in the future.

Conte has been very impressed by how Kulusevski has improved at Tottenham already.

The 21-year-old Sweden international attacker moved to Tottenham on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window.

Kulusevski can play as a wide forward, winger, wing-back or attacking midfielder.

Antonio Conte on Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski

Conte told Football.London about Kulusevski: “Honestly, we are talking about an important prospect, because he is very young, only 21-years-old and despite his young age he has good experience with the national team.

“Also to play with Juventus for one year and a half, you understand what it means to live with pressure, with that pressure.

“We are talking about an important prospect. Probably he could explode in the future. Also because I can see the intensity, the will and the desire to play.

“As everyday in training sessions he is a type of player who has it in his mind the target to become a top player in his career and as his manager I try to help him to improve and believe.

“For sure is he an important prospect for the present and for the future. He has to continue to work in this way because he has in one month and a half improved a lot physically, tactically and also in his mentality.”

Promising

In our opinion, Conte’s comments on Kulusevski are very encouraging for Tottenham.

We know that the Tottenham head coach is a world-class manager and knows a quality player when he sees one.

Conte being so effusive in his praise of the 21-year-old in public shows how much he rates him.

Kulusevski is only 21, and clearly he is not the finished article yet.

But, as we have seen over the past few weeks, the Swede has hit the ground running in the Premier League and has already established himself as an important player in Conte’s team.

The 21-year-old has made six starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Tottenham so far.

Kulusevski has scored two goals and given four assists in those games.
