Antonio Conte has told Thursday’s press conference – as per Football London – that he has found it “very difficult” to improve Tottenham striker Harry Kane. The England skipper is back to his incredible best right now.
Kane, 28, won the March Player of the Month award after a brilliant few weeks. In March, he scored four goals and laid on two more assists. In his last eight league games, he has scored seven and created another four.
It is a remarkable turnaround in form following the first half of the season, notably under Nuno Espirito Santo. Some have claimed that his failure to secure a move to Manchester City affected his early form in 2021-22.
Speaking about Kane ahead of Saturday’s fixture against Aston Villa, Conte explained how the striker is incredibly difficult to improve – mainly because he is a player of immense quality. He will be crucial in the top-four race.
“We are talking about a fantastic player. It’s very difficult to improve him but we’re trying to work and push him to the top ambition, to be the best striker. He can be one of the best, best in the world and in history.”
Conte on Kane: Player of the season, if Tottenham achieve fourth?
While he was poor in the first half of the season, Kane has been immense since then. Single-handedly grabbing Spurs with his own hands and dragging them into fourth place. A fourth-place finish is a real possibility.
If Spurs do get fourth, it will be down to his incredible display against Manchester City – one that many have said is one of the best individual performance ever seen in the Premier League. He could win POTS.
