Antonio Conte has responded when asked about Son Heung-min‘s tricky start to the Premier League season in his latest Tottenham press conference – as per Football London – claiming the South Korea star has been “unlucky”.
Son, 30, continues to be one of the first names on the team sheet this season under Conte. That is, despite struggling during the early part of the season – at least, compared to last season’s form. He won the golden boot.
Indeed, Son produced a whopping 34 goal involvements in 45 games. Scoring 24, 23 of which came in the Premier League, he also laid on 10 assists. Son is yet to score in his first three games, managing only one assist this term.
The feeling is that Son is not yet firing on all cylinders. Asked about Son’s form, Conte said the ex-Leverkusen man has been “unlucky” so far. However, he has “no problems” with the left-winger’s form this season.

“You know very well that we are talking about a really important player for me and for the club. For sure I think Sonny in the last three games he had chances to score but there is moment but lucky or unlucky.
“No problem with Sonny’s performance, his attitude and commitment is always very high. Happy about his performance and I don’t see any problem with him,” Conte told Friday’s press conference, as per Football London.
Conte: Tottenham star Son has been ‘unlucky’ this season
It is right to think that Son is not yet working to the fullest of his capability. But he easily has plenty of enough credit in the bank to continue in the starting line-up. He will not be dropped by Conte on Sunday afternoon.
However, it might be that he is rotated at points this season, especially when there is a Champions League game in the middle of the week. The signing of Richarlison gives Tottenham another quality option in the final third.
