According to CalcioMercatoWeb, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a move for AC Milan’s Fikayo Tomori with a potential swap deal with Emerson Royal on the cards.
Tomori has been starring over in Italy since swapping San Siro for Stamford Bridge, and now, the defender could be set for a move back to London with Tottenham.
Interestingly, Tomori actually worked with Conte as a youngster during his time at Chelsea, and while he didn’t play at all under the Italian, he did train with the first-team during that time.
Conte did work with Tomori during that time, and, almost predictably, the Italian tried to re-train him as a wing-back during his time in west London.

The defender spoke about his time under Conte back in 2017.
“I’ve never actually played right wing-back before but I played right-back quite a lot in my earlier years. The manager has made me aware of what’s required in the role; where to be, where to run and where to pass the ball, which has made it a lot easier for me. I’m enjoying it and hopefully whenever I get a chance I can make an impression,” Tomori said.
“If I get my chance I just have to play as well as I can and do what the manager asks of me. I’m on a pre-season tour, I just want to enjoy it and do the best I can.”
Found his feet
Tomori may have been experimenting at wing-back when he was developing under Conte all those years ago, but now, he’s most definitely a centre-back.
He’s cut his teeth in Milan and he’s absolutely bossing it as a central defender.
If he came to Spurs, he’d surely be playing at the heart of Conte’s back three rather than out wide.
Conte does like to experiment with wing-backs, but we have to imagine that he’d use Tomori in his natural position if he was to get his hands on him at Tottenham.
