Warren Barton has said on talkSPORT that the new Newcastle United owners should appoint Antonio Conte as the first-team manager.
The former Newcastle defender, who is also a fan of the club, believes that it is time for current manager Steve Bruce to go.
The pundit wants Amanda Staveley to bring in former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss Conte to St. James’ Park.
An investment group led by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), and also comprising PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media, have taken over Newcastle from Mike Ashley.
British financier Staveley is a founder of PCP Capital Partners and will have a seat on the Newcastle board, as reported by The Guardian.
Barton said on talkSPORT: “I would move him on, I think it’s come to an end, the trust and the fans showed that with their voting.
“At the moment [Antonio] Conte is out there, you’ve got someone who has won in numerous leagues.”

Antonio Conte to Newcastle United?
Conte is without a managerial role at the moment.
The 52-year-old Italian tactician left Inter in the summer of 2021 after leading them to the Serie A title last season.
La Gazzetta Dello Sport have reported that the new Newcastle owners have made Conte their number one managerial target.
Conte is a winner and has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, such as Inter, Juventus and Chelsea.
The Italian will know that it is a long-term project at Newcastle, but if he is promised funds to invest in new players, then he could well be interested.
