Antonio Conte has told Friday’s press conference – as per Football London – that Dejan Kulusevski is more than capable as playing as a wing-back. The Swedish wonderkid, according to Conte, has enormous potential at Spurs.

Kulusevski, 21, has been one of the few positives of Tottenham’s recent run of dismal form – four Premier League defeats in their last five, which saw Conte question his own position as Spurs manager on Wednesday night.

So far, Kulusevski has played a winger alongside Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, but did feature as a wing-back towards the end of Wednesday’s 1-0 loss. Discussing Kulusevski in Friday’s presser, Conte was full of praise.

He spoke of the new signing’s versatility and how he could be a good option as a wing-back in the weeks, months and years to come. He also exclaimed how happy he is with the Swede, as well as recruit Rodrigo Bentancur.

“We finished the game with Kulusevski and Bergwijn as wing-backs. Kulusevski is another player that can play in that role and give us the quality. This can be also a good solution in this position.

“I think he’s playing good games and he’s totally involved in our idea, with Bentancur, and I’m very happy with what I’m seeing with these two players,” Conte said, when asked about the ex-Juventus attacker.

Conte on Kulusevski: Tottenham star is perhaps surprising a few

When Kulusevski joined Tottenham, many thought he would be a good addition but that it might take a couple of seasons for him to show why. But he has hit the ground running, his attitude clearly something Conte rates.

Conte says he has completely bought in to life under the Italian at Spurs. What may surprise fans is that he could play in a number of positions, as Conte states. Out wide, as a 10 or even in defence, as a wing back.
