Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Antonio Conte has delivered an update on Oliver Skipp’s fitness.

The midfielder has been out of action for a few weeks after suffering a hairline fracture on his heel, but now, he’s getting closer to a return.

Unfortunately, Skipp will not be fit to face Wolves this weekend, but Conte says that the midfielder will be back out and running in the coming days as he prepares to make his return to first-team action.

What’s been said?

Conte shared a positive update on Skipp.

“The other player who is not available is Skipp, but there is good news about him because today or tomorrow he is going to run again and that is really good news. I hope that this player will be a bit lucky because since January he’s had problems and now I think he will be ready quickly. He’s a really good guy but he’s been suffering a lot,” Conte said.

Just in time

Skipp is returning to action for Tottenham at the perfect time.

The north London club’s season is only just starting, but it won’t be long before they need to dig into their squad depth as their European commitments and cup competitions get up and running.

Indeed, with the winter World Cup on the horizon, the schedule in the coming months is gruelling to say the least, and Tottenham will need their full squad available to them if they’re going to compete on all fronts.

Skipp certainly provides a level of quality depth at Tottenham, and his return from injury will be welcomed news at Hotspur Way.

Unfortunately, he’s not going to be back this weekend, but it won’t be long before we see Skipp back in a Spurs shirt doing what he does best.
