Antonio Conte backed Harry Kane to break the all-time Premier League goalscoring record set by Alan Shearer, after Tottenham Hotspur thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0 on Wednesday night.
As things stand, Kane has 198 goals in the league, while Shearer has 260.
At 29 years of age, the England captain still has plenty of time on his hands to prove Conte right and usurp the Newcastle United legend’s famous record if he stays at Tottenham.
While Kane has his fair share of critics, there is no questioning that he remains arguably the finest striker in the Premier League.
With the Tottenham legend still in his prime, the record set by Alan Shearer does not look safe in the slightest.
If not for Erling Haaland’s magnificence, a bigger talking point would be how Kane is on course for one of the greatest individual Premier League seasons from a No.9 in history.
Keeping that in mind, Conte has now made the prediction in his post-match press conference.
Antonio Conte backs Harry Kane to beat the famous Alan Shearer record

Antonio Conte has said that Harry Kane will break the iconic all-time Premier League goalscoring record set by Alan Shearer, after his heroics for Tottenham in their 4-0 victory against Crystal Palace.
“I don’t want to speak about Harry [Kane] because we waste time talking about the type of player he is.”
“I repeat, he is a world-class striker and he’s going to beat that record [set by Alan Shearer] with the goals”, Conte told Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.
How can one disagree with Conte?
It’s simple: if Harry Kane stays in the Premier League for another couple of years, Antonio Conte is set to be proven right as the Tottenham striker will beat the record set by Alan Shearer.
The only question marks regarding Kane are related to his future and his fitness.
If those questions are answered, Conte will be all smiles to witness Kane. who was labeled as ‘majestic’ by Alan Smith after his masterclass against Palace finally beat the tally set by Shearer one day.
