Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told Football.London that Emerson Royal played well against Brighton and Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Conte believes that Emerson will have got a lot of confidence from his performance for Tottenham in the FA Cup tie against Brighton at home.
However, the Tottenham head coach has added that the 23-year-old right wing-back, who cost the North London club £25.8 million (BBC Sport), knows that there is room for improvement in his game.
Tottenham beat Premier League rivals Brighton 3-1 at home in the FA Cup on Saturday evening.
Emerson started at right wing-back and played for 87 minutes.
Antonio Conte on Tottenham’s Emerson Royal
Conte told Football.London about Emerson: “I think his performance was really top tonight. He played very well. And it’s important for his confidence, important for him.
“Don’t forget that also Emerson is only 23 years old and to come here and play in another league is not simple.
“There are a lot of difficulties, but Emerson is a good player and knows very well that there’s space for improvement.
“To score a goal was important for the confidence, for himself and especially for the team.”

Encouraging
In our view, Conte’s comments are encouraging for Tottenham right-back Emerson.
The former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager clearly rates Emerson highly, but at the same time, he wants the 23-year-old Brazil international right-back to continue to improve.
In our opinion, this is very good man-management.
Conte does not want Emerson to get carried away, but at the same time, he wants to send him a clear message that he is on the right path.
We think that under Conte, the former Barcelona player will improve and develop his game.
