Antonio Conte has told Football London that Fabio Paratici is happy at Tottenham amid reports that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in luring the Spurs sporting director to France, ahead of the summer window.
Paratici has been criticised at times for his work in the transfer window at Tottenham, not least by Antonio Conte – who told Italian media that he was surprised by a lack of signings in the January transfer window.
However, the additions Paratici did make in January – in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski – have remarkably improved Spurs already. Both signings came about, largely because Paratici had signed them for Juventus.
The Athletic reported this week that Paratici was being considered as a possible replacement for PSG sporting director Leonardo. Conte stated it would be disrespectful to discuss his future, but that he is happy at Spurs.
“Honestly this question is a question for him not for me. I can’t speak for another person, I don’t know the thoughts of another person. This could be disrespectful to speak about another person.
“We are talking about someone who worked for 10 years at Juventus and worked very well and wants to work very well for Tottenham,” Conte said about Paratici, amid reports that PSG are interested in landing him.
Conte on Paratici: Tottenham need to keep Italian amid PSG interest
Paratici spent 11 years at Juventus, re-moulding the Serie A club and keeping them at the top of Italian football for numerous years. It was a project and Paratici likes to remain at the same place to build long-term.
Conte not so much, but Paratici has put in the building blocks to further Tottenham already. Bentancur and Kulusevski are both under 25 years of age, as are many of his other additions – Cristian Romero, for example.
Spurs must give Paratici the foundation to build and continue the process. They have got to keep the Italian – especially given his relationship with Conte.
