Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has told his pre-match press conference that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is doing a “really good job” at the Emirates. The two gaffers face-off in one of the biggest North London derbies ever.
In the race for fourth place and with three games to go, Arsenal sit four points clear – but have to go to Tottenham on Thursday. Spurs probably need to win to stand any chance of fourth, Arsenal have to avoid defeat.
Not only is it a huge game in the race for fourth, but a massive one in terms of the rivalry between the two sides – and the fact it has been rearranged, after it was cancelled due to covid earlier this season. A huge, huge game.
Asked about Arsenal and £96k-a-week (Goal) Arteta, Conte was full of praise for the work his counterpart had done – stating that he had also been given the opportunity to do so, perhaps in regards to the money spent.
“We have to try to get three points. We are talking about a good team, a really well organised team. Arteta is doing a really good job. He’s had the possibility to work, improve his team,” Conte said, as per Football London.
Conte on Arteta: Who will win – Arsenal or Tottenham?
Judging by the two side’s most-recent results, Spurs have only won one of their last four Premier League games – but were superb against Liverpool after a 3-1 win over Leicester. Arsenal have won four in a row.
But judging on the last result, Spurs will be delighted with their bravery and fight against Liverpool and that will give them confidence and momentum. Not only that, but Arsenal stumbled to a 2-1 win over a 10-man Leeds.
It should have been a much more convincing win. Of course, the hostility of a derby and the pressure of the situation could see form fly out of the window. An Arsenal win sees the Gunners qualify for the top four.
