Antonio Conte comments on David Luiz and Kenedy rumours amid Newcastle transfer link

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for two Chelsea players.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has not completely ruled out the possibility of two players moving out of the club in January, but insists the club must be “ready to face” rumours emanating in the press.

Two Chelsea players – David Luiz and Kenedy – have been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in January, with Newcastle United keen to secure their services.

According to reports from The Sun, Luiz has fallen out of favour at the Bridge, and his future is uncertain.

The report adds that Rafael Benitez is plotting a swoop for the player he got on well with during his short stint as a Chelsea manager.

The Magpies are also reportedly frontrunners in the chase for Kenedy, with the Daily Mail reporting that Newcastle have even secured his signature.

The Brazilian attacker is set to join the Magpies in January once the transfer window re-opens. Newcastle will pay a loan fee for the 21-year-old.

When Conte was asked to comment about the futures of Kenedy and Luiz in his press-conference ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Everton, he said that the club must be ready to face the situation.

“A difficult period is starting for every player and coach. There are a lot of rumours in this period. Some are true, while some are wrong. We must be ready to face this situation. I think the best way for me is don’t read and only to chat with the club,” said Conte, as quoted by the Football London.

“Then we’d like to try and improve the squad if this is possible. There are a lot of rumours now and we must be ready to face these. We must also be ready to be focused and play game by game. We have to play every three days and we can’t let these rumours disturb us.”
