Antonio Conte has said Bryan Gil was ‘born to play football’ after his excellent showing for Tottenham Hotspur in their 4-0 drubbing of Crystal Palace.

Considering Conte was reportedly keen on an upgrade on Gil recently, this statement certainly comes as surprise.

Estadio Deportivo had also reported that the £21.4 million (Guardian) winger was desperate to return to La Liga in January.

However, keeping the exit rumours aside, Bryan Gil shone in a Tottenham shirt for Crystal Palace.

Antonio Conte, much like all the away fans was impressed by Gil, whose name was chanted after a superb showing.

The Spaniard danced past opponents all game, displaying his mesmeric technique and eye for a pass.

An argument can even be made that after Harry Kane, Bryan Gil was the best player on the pitch against Crystal Palace.

Speaking of Kane, his well-taken 2nd goal was set up the former Valencia wideman with an incisive pass.

After what was perhaps his finest game in a Spurs shirt, Conte heaped praise onto the 21-year-old.

Antonio Conte was extremely complimentary about Bryan Gil after his sumptuous display for Tottenham Hotspur in their 4-0 win against Crystal Palace.

“It was important. We are talking about a player [Bryan Gil] born to play football. He understands football so quickly, he’s so clever.”

“This [Premier] league is so difficult. Quality, you have to be fast and have endurance. He has that and also you have to be strong physically. Gil since last season has improved on that aspect.”

“I compared him to Bernardo Silva of Manchester City because in my opinion, they are really similar. He has to continue to work on the physical aspect because he has great quality”, Conte told Football.London’s Alasdair Gold.

Huge praise from Antonio Conte about Bryan Gil, who is worthy of all the kind words after a memorable showing for Tottenham against Crystal Palace.
