Tottenham Hotspur youngster Anton Walkes has commented on his crazy week to the official Tottenham Hotspur website, after losing 6-2 for the under-23s and then making his first-team debut.

Spurs defeated Gillingham 5-0 and the game gave Mauricio Pochettino a chance to blood some more youngsters to his exciting current crop.

The Argentine started teenage centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers for his Spurs debut and summer signing Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and talented attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards also got into the action.

As did Walkes, coming on for Ben Davies in the 80th minute.

He made his debut in the same week as he lost 6-2 to Liverpool under-23s but he says the debut quickly helped him forget about that. He told the official Tottenham Hotspur website:

“It was a pleasure to get out there and get some minutes under my belt. It’s been tough this season so far but I have to keep pushing and pushing.

“It’s been a crazy week. It was hard to pick myself up on Tuesday morning after what happened against Liverpool but once I got the news that I was going to be in the squad I quickly got out of that and I was ready.”

The progress of the other debutants was expected but Walkes’ emergence has come as something of a surprise to many a Spurs fan.

His versatility does however make him a very good option for Tottenham going forward and it could be this is why he has been moved up the rankings at Spurs.

Here’s hoping to plenty more appearances for this young talent.
