At times it felt like the half-time show was a bigger talking point than the World Cup final itself and it certainly caused lots of debate online.
A host of names ranging from Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS to Ted Lasso and the Sesame Street band performed in the New York-New Jersey stadium and to millions across the world.
While some would’ve enjoyed it, others would’ve had differing opinions, splitting people down the middle on social media.
Fans complain about World Cup half-time show
The show lasted 17 minutes in total but for some people that was 17 minutes too long and there were plenty of complaints.
Journalist Miguel Delaney said: “A half-time show is an anti-football abomination. Players have gone through their career used to normal break. That rhythm disrupted, in the biggest game of their careers. It’s of a piece with absurdly high ticket prices and Balogun controversy – Fifa ushering this through.”
This fan added: “This half time show is genuinely like a bad dream.”
Another stated: “Half time show.. Utter yank nonsense.”
This person commented: “Half time show at the World Cup final. Game’s officially gone.”
“The half-time show is awful. America must never host the World Cup again,” another added.
At least Wayne Rooney summed it up honestly and admitted it wasn’t very good.
