Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Anthony Martial from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Star.
What’s the story?
It is being reported by The Daily Star tonight (9pm) that Tottenham want to bring United forward Martial to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
The Red Devils want to sell the France international forward.
United have signed winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, and the former Premier League champions want to cash in on Martial now.
The Red Devils are looking for £50 million as transfer fee for the former AS Monaco star.
Tottenham are interested in the 25-year-old, according to the report, which has added that even if the North London club are willing to pay the £50 million transfer fee needed, his wages of £250,000 per week ‘would be a massive stumbling block’.
However, there is one way that Martial could end up at Spurs.

That is if United decided to challenge Manchester City for Spurs striker Harry Kane, and the France international is sent to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of a cash-plus-player exchange deal.
Is Anthony Martial what Tottenham need?
Martial is a good forward and has done well on occasions for United, but the 25-year-old is not really what Spurs need.
Especially for £50 million.
The France international is not exactly a consistent goalscorer, and he does not create an awful lot of chances.
The United no.9 scored four goals and gave three assists in 22 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils last season.
Martial started 16 of those games as a striker.

Back in 2019-20, the forward scored 17 goals and gave six assists in the league, while in 2018-19, he scored 10 goals and provided two assists in the league.
The forward has scored 55 goals in 167 league appearances for United so far in his career.
Martial is a good forward who can do a good job, but if Tottenham are looking for a direct replacement for Kane, then they should look elsewhere.
Spurs will surely find a better striker for £50 million.
