Manchester United’s Anthony Martial celebrates scoring
Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has uploaded a picture with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry on Instagram on Thursday, describing the former France international as “a legend.”
With both players emerging at Monaco, and possessing tremendous speed and technical quality, Martial has often been compared to his compatriot, even if the 20-year-old, with one goal in nine appearances this season, is struggling to make his mark under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United supporters would have to agree with their young forward on Henry’s standing as a legendary footballer, even if they would do so begrudgingly.
The former Arsenal star is the record goalscorer for France and also for the Gunners, even though he only spent eight full seasons in North London, and was a thorn in the side of the Red Devils on more than one occasion.

The 39-year-old’s 228 goals for Arsenal averages out at 28.5 strikes a year – a quite sensational record, and United fans will hope Martial can replicate that sort of form in his career.
Henry has this season been helping Roberto Martinez coach the Belgium national team, where he has been working with several Premier League goal threats such as Romelu Lukaku and Christian Benteke – both of whom have found their form after slow starts earlier in the season.
Let’s hope he gave Martial a couple of tips on demolishing Premier League defences.
