Anthony Kim just recorded his first top five since his return to professional golf in 2022.
The performance comes months after Kim was relegated from the LIV Golf Tour in 2025, having not secured a single point during his time on the Saudi-backed league. Since then, Kim appears to be having a resurgence on the Asian Tour.
Kim shot a second-round 64 at the Saudi International to raise eyebrows around the golfing world, lifting him into contention for the victory. He didn’t fight for the win on Sunday, but he finished the tournament in the top five, going 14-under par.
Despite his best performance in years, Kim was not happy after his final round. He explained why afterwards.

Why Anthony Kim was ‘frustrated’ despite recording top five finish at the Saudi International
Kim shot 70 in his final round, which was under par, but his worst 18 holes of the tournament. Speaking to Flushing It Golf, he explained why he felt he left a better score out there.
He said, “I’m sure I’ll feel better about it when I’m on the flight home. Right now, I’m very frustrated with the middle stretch of my round, and unfortunately, I didn’t get the putts to fall early.
“I hit the ball very well the first 12 holes, then unfortunately, made a couple of unforced errors.”
Still, the 40-year-old expressed optimism, saying he felt he had a higher purpose beyond the sport.
He continued: “I think this proves that my hard work is paying off. You know, not that this is a big deal, but I found faith in God, and unfortunately, I didn’t get it done today. But, I feel like God has a bigger plan for me, not just in the golf, but to help other people.
“Obviously, I’ve dealt with my fair share of mental illness and addiction and, you know, I’m working for my family, I’m working for myself. But I’m also working for the people that are struggling.”
Anthony Kim eyes return to LIV Golf at Promotions
Kim was relegated from LIV this season, but with his recent form, there’s hope he can get back on the tour, whether that’s from results on the Asian Tour or elsewhere.
He revealed that he’ll be playing on LIV Golf Promotions in January, where the top two finishers earn a place on the LIV tour.

Kim said, “Yeah. I’ll be there. I think if I just keep working the way I’m working, I’m finally able to swing the way I want to on the golf course. So, once that happens, and I make a few putts, I’ll be right back.”
Whether he earns his place right back or not, there’s now real hope that Kim can battle back, where there wasn’t really before. It’s great to see the three-time PGA Tour winner back in contention!
