Joshua’s first public comment on the crash came last Sunday when he posted several photos with the caption “My Brothers Keeper.”

He hasn’t spoken again about the incident, which first made headlines on Monday, December 29.

People close to Joshua have talked about what might come next in his boxing career, though there’s no confirmation that any decisions have been made yet.

Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, both long-time friends and members of his team, died in the crash while they were travelling together in Nigeria.

The former world champion has since taken to social media again to reflect on what this experience has been like so far.

“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers,” Joshua wrote. “I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents.”

“I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts,” he concluded. “May God have mercy on my brothers.”
