Everton youngster Anthony Gordon has made a big impact at development squad level this season.

Anthony Gordon (R) of Everton during the Everton v Gor Mahia friendly match at Goodison Park on November 6, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Everton youngster Anthony Gordon has told the Liverpool Echo that he has been so impressed with Lucas Digne, since training with the first-team.

Gordon now regularly trains with Everton’s senior side, as he is regarded as one of their brightest prospects.

But the 18-year-old admits that the step up has been very evident, when he has played with Everton’s senior players.

Gordon feels that there is a big difference between the quality of training when he is called up to the first-team.

And the teenaged forward admits that Digne’s performances are particularly impressive.

“It’s the consistency of first touches, the way Premier League players keep the ball in difficult situations, it’s a much higher quality and you can see how good the players are when you are playing with them everyday,” Gordon said, when asked what it’s like to train with Everton’s senior side.

“Lucas [Digne] is quality. He’s just good at everything, he is so consistent everyday and his quality on the ball is ridiculous and he’s, obviously, one of the best left-backs in the world at the minute so to compete against him is only going to benefit me.”

Gordon is yet to make a first-team appearance for Everton this season, but he has really impressed at development squad level.

The young forward has five goals in eight games, and looks as if he could be the next youngster to break through at Goodison Park.

And Gordon will be hoping that he can do enough before the end of the season to get another chance in Everton’s first-team.
