Talented Tottenham prospect made his debut against Roma.
Tottenham winger Anthony Georgiou came off the bench to make an impressive contribution in their defeat against Roma.
The teenager was lively in the dramatic 3-2 friendly defeat, and catching the eye of fans who took to Twitter to hail his performance.
Georgiou sent a message out on Twitter last night expressing his happiness at getting to make his first team bow.
The last season was a complicated one for the Cypriot youth international.
He suffered an injury in November which kept him out until the final under-23 game of the season, and caught the eye in his comeback match.
Now involved in the first team squad, temporarily, he has a chance to make up for lost time and he did himself no harm with his display against Roma.
It can only be to his benefit that Tottenham have not bought any players this summer, and he has a chance to show head coach Mauricio Pochettino that they do not need to sign another winger.
Standards are exceptionally high at Spurs as they seek to compete for and win trophies next season, but Georgiou’s performance at least suggests he deserves another look.
