Anthony Edwards took centre stage in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ win over the Oklahoma City Thunder during their 2025-26 NBA season match-up.
The Timberwolves, playing as heavy underdogs against an OKC side holding a 25-2 record, pulled off a surprising 112-107 win to give their fans something to cheer about.
With the game close in the fourth quarter, it was Edwards who put Minnesota ahead for good, draining a clutch three-pointer late on.
Afterwards, ‘Ant-Man’ spoke about his decision to pull up from beyond the arc rather than playing it safe with a drive to the basket.
Anthony Edwards explains why he went for the three against OKC

Early in his career, Edwards was mostly known for his work around the rim. But over time, he has turned himself into a much more dangerous shooter from beyond the arc.
Even so, former NBA guard Gilbert Arenas has raised concerns about Ant’s growing reliance on the three-ball. Arenas feels that by settling for jumpers, Edwards is leaving easy points on the table.
After hitting a game-winning shot against OKC, the 24-year-old took a moment to address those comments directly.
Edwards said: “I receive a lot of negative criticism because I never go for the tie. I heard Gilbert Arenas not too long ago say I’m trying to go home. I’m going for the game every time.”
Edwards backed up his approach with another strong performance, finishing with 26 points, 12 rebounds and three assists over 42 minutes.

Arenas has never shied away from speaking his mind about Edwards, and the Timberwolves star usually has something to say in return. This time was no different, but Arenas did not take the exchange in a negative direction.
Edwards’ remarks after the game got back to the former Washington Wizards guard, who responded through his Instagram story.
“It’s called the Ant-Man now. We never go for the TIE,” he wrote.
Instead of keeping up any criticism, Arenas chose to show some appreciation for the three-time NBA All-Star.
Whether this leads to a new friendship remains to be seen, but it is something fans might want to keep an eye on as the season unfolds.
