Anthony Edwards had a funny but honest answer when asked about facing Davion Mitchell.

The Minnesota Timberwolves star spoke after a win over Miami and gave full credit to the Heat guard.

He explained how tough Mitchell makes every matchup and why he plans for it.

It was a light moment that showed both respect and personality from one of the NBA’s brightest young stars.

Anthony Edwards on preparing for Davion Mitchell

Anthony Edwards was asked about how he approaches games when facing the Heat.

He said: “I just try to get as much sleep as possible, because Davion Mitchell always gives me a hard time.

“I try to get in bed by like 9:30 PM because I know it’s going to be a long day. He’s going to chase me around, so I had to be ready.”

His answer drew laughs but also showed how much he respects Mitchell’s defense. Edwards admitted that Mitchell’s energy forces him to prepare differently.

It was the kind of comment that feels lighthearted but also very real for players who know how hard it is to score against elite defenders.

Davion Mitchell’s defense earns league-wide respect

Mitchell has built a reputation as one of the NBA’s toughest on-ball defenders.

His nickname, “Off Night,” says it all. Guards often struggle to find rhythm when he is assigned to them.

Edwards’ comment showed the level of preparation top scorers have to make when facing him.

It was a glimpse into how seriously players take defense at the highest level, and a reminder that Mitchell’s effort is noticed by everyone who goes up against him.
