The 30-year-old striker has paid tribute to the Leeds crowd.
Leeds United striker Mirco Antenucci says the Elland Road crowd is good enough for a top Serie A club, according to the Yorkshire side’s official website.
Indeed, the Italian was mesmerised by the ‘incredible’ 30,000 crowd that watched Leeds draw 1-1 with Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
And comparing it to a Serie B crowd wasn’t enough for the experienced striker, who feels the 4,000-5,000 away following United fans also produce is worthy of the top clubs in Serie A.
Antenucci is quoted as saying by the Leeds site: “They are very attached to the club. I think back to the crowds of Serie B and then 30,000 yesterday at Elland Road – incredible.
“Away, they have 4,000-5,000 following, like a top club in Serie A.”
Super-sub?
Antenucci’s impact against Burnley saw him win Sky Sports’ goal of the day competition, with the 30-year-old cutting onto his left foot on the right-hand edge of the penalty area, leaving a defender for dead and curling a wondrous striker into the far corner.
The amount of curve the Italian registered on the ball made it a truly special strike and fans have been hailing Antenucci’s effectiveness as a super-sub.
