Newcastle got the better of Leicester 1-0 away from home at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.
Ayoze Perez scored the only goal of the match between the Foxes and the Magpies on 32 minutes.
The win against Leicester on Friday evening means that Newcastle are now 13th in the Premier League table with 38 points from 34 matches.
The Magpies are as many as 10 points clear of third-from-bottom Cardiff City, who have played 32 games, and they seem safe from relegation.
English TV presenting duo Ant & Dec – Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly – have taken to Twitter to revel in the win for Newcastle, and they have also urged club owner Mike Ashley to hand manager Benitez a new contract.
Benitez, who has been in charge of Newcastle since March 2016, is out of contract at the Magpies at the end of the season, and the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss has yet to agree on a new deal.
