Ant and Dec have sent a cryptic tweet regarding the imminent takeover at Newcastle United.
According to Sky Sports News, Newcastle could be under new ownership from today.
Saudi Public Investment Fund are set to complete their long-awaited takeover of the Magpies after grievances between the state and BeIN Sport regarding streaming issues were resolved.
Here’s a tweet from famous Geordie duo Ant and Dec account on Twitter:
For Newcastle fans, this might be the day that they have waited years for – literally, years.
Mike Ashley bought the St James’s Park club back in 2007 but the English businessman has been massively unpopular among the supporters for virtually his entire reign in the North East.
But there’s a new dawn at Newcastle, though the fans will be hoping it isn’t another false one.
Remember, Saudi PIF looked poised to take over United last year but the attempt fell short on that occasion.
However, the streaming issues that played a role in scuppering the purchase have now been resolved and, in theory, this effort should succeed.
Sky added that all parties – including Ashely himself – are ‘working round the clock’ to ensure that the sale of Newcastle goes through this time.
If and when it’s confirmed, and ratified by the Premier League, Saudi PIF will own 80 percent of the North-East outfit.
