Ant and Dec have taken to Twitter to react after Newcastle completed the £25m signing of Chris Wood, while Mehrdad Ghodoussi also commented.

What’s the story?

Well, Newcastle have made their second signing of the January transfer window after pinching Wood from Premier League rivals Burnley.

According to the Daily Mail, the Clarets and Sean Dyche are said to be furious after losing their No.9 to a fellow relegation candidate.

Nevertheless, Ant and Dec seem to be enjoying the news, as they poked fun at the club’s announcement.

You can see their tweet in full below.

If you’re not sure what Ant and Dec are talking about, then you may have missed Newcastle’s announcement of the Kieran Trippier deal.

As you can see below, the England international clearly struggled when asked to point to the Newcastle badge.

Hopefully, Trippier is more accurate on the pitch than he is away from it!

Ghodoussi – husband of Amanda Staveley – also commented on the news.

You can see his reaction in full below.

Evidently, those associated with the Magpies are very happy about this deal.

Chris Wood is a superb signing by Newcastle

In our view, this is an ideal signing for Newcastle given the circumstances.

Eddie Howe needs an immediate impact from his new additions, and he should get that from Wood, a man with vast Premier League experience.

The 30-year-old has scored 50 Premier League goals in 155 appearances, which gives him a decent strike rate of roughly one every three games.

Across his last four Premier League campaigns, Wood has impressively hit double figures, so he’s clearly a consistent, reliable frontman.

That is exactly what Howe needs if he’s to guide Newcastle to survival.

With Trippier and Allan Saint-Maximin whipping crosses onto his head, who knows how many goals the New Zealand international could score at St James’ Park.
