Yannick Bolasie has claimed on Instagram that Lucas Digne is joining ‘another great club’ in Aston Villa after leaving Everton.
On Thursday morning, Villa announced on Twitter their second January signing of the window in the form of Everton left-back, Digne.
After Digne posted a two-word message to his new fans on IG ‘let’s go @avfcofficial, Bolasie, who played for both Villa and Everton during his career, sent this message:
“Jheeeze,” said Bolasie. “Good luck brother. Another great club.”
Digne is now training with his new Villa teammates and he will be hoping to make his debut against Manchester United on Saturday.
Steven Gerrard’s side were beaten 1-0 by the Old Trafford-based club on Monday night and knocked out of the FA Cup.
From a performance perspective, Villa were outstanding, but VAR calls and their lack of ruthless nature in front of goal cost them.
But with Digne and Philippe Coutinho through the club’s doors, they have provided everyone with a lift.
It will be interesting to see if Gerrard throws the duo straight into the starting XI because they are in with a chance.
If that does happen then Digne will, of course, replace Matt Targett, whilst Coutinho might play out on the left or as a ten.
If the Brazil international plays as a ten, then he replaces Jacob Ramsey, who was brilliant in the FA Cup.
Or, Ollie Watkins moves up top, with Danny Ings making way and Coutinho then starting from the left.
Either way, this is an uplifting time for Villa and the mood around Bodymoor Heath is very positive.
