Celtic beat Airdrie 3-0 in the Scottish Cup on Saturday evening.
Celtic advanced into the next round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday evening with a 3-0 thrashing of Airdrie at Parkhead.
The Bhoys made their first return to domestic action since the 1-0 defeat to Rangers, as they took on third-tier Airdrie for a place in the fifth round.
Celtic unsurprisingly ran out easy winners, with winger Scott Sinclair opening the scoring in the first half to set the tone for a comfortable victory.
Sinclair added his and Celtic’s second after the break, before debutant Timothy Weah grabbed his first goal for the club late on.
It could have been more, but Sinclair had a goal incorrectly ruled out of offside after following Oliver Burke’s shot in.
Celtic will be hoping to add the Scottish Cup to the Scottish League Cup this season, with Brendan Rodgers still in course for a third treble in a row.
After the game, pundit and ex-Celtic striker John Hartson took to Twitter to react to the game, praising Celtic for a comfortable win whilst also crediting Airdrie for their battling display.
However, Hartson felt that the decision to rule out Sinclair’s ‘offside’ goal was ‘shambolic’, adding that refereeing decisions are becoming a joke.
