Stan Collymore has told CaughtOffSide that Graham Potter’s Chelsea or Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City should not sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain, saying that it turn out to be another Cristiano Ronaldo situation at Manchester United.

The former Liverpool striker does not think that Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea should bring in Brazil international forward Neymar in the summer transfer window.

Collymore has noted how Manchester United had to terminate Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract by mutual consent last year and has used that situation as a warning for the likes of Chelsea and City.

90min reported this week that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Newcastle United all have been offered the chance to sign the Brazil international forward in the summer of 2023.

Intermediaries have reportedly spoken to the aforementioned clubs and have told them that the former Barcelona star is interested in a move to the Premier League.

PSG are willing to sell the 31-year-old forward in the summer transfer window, according to the report.

90min added that during a recent meeting between Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and PSG counterpart Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Neymar’s name was mentioned.

Manchester City and Chelsea told not to sign PSG forward Neymar

Collymore said: “There’s always been this playboy lifestyle hanging over Neymar so if a Premier League club is really looking at him seriously, my message to them would be to be careful because it could turn out to be another Cristiano Ronaldo and Man United situation.

“Neither Manchester club should take him and Chelsea, who appear to be the club most heavily-linked (90min), definitely don’t need him.

“I think Neymar is a fantastic player but joining Chelsea would be an awful move in my opinion because the Blues’ project is to build for the future and if Neymar were to come to Stamford Bridge, you could just imagine much of Graham Potter’s time in front of the media would be taken up by questions on the Brazilian.

“That’s the last time he would need, but it’d also be the last thing any of the other players need.

“Not only that, but Neymar’s antics are at times reminiscent of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and look how that one’s turned out, so just steer clear, Chelsea.”
