Speaking on Leeds United’s YouTube channel, Dom Matteo has been talking about Jesse Marsch and his decision to promote Mark Jackson to first-team coach at Leeds.
Jackson had been the U23s manager for quite some time, but after Marsch’s arrival, he’s been given a bigger role in the first-team.
Jackson is a well-respected member of staff, and he’s worked wonders with the U23s, and Matteo believes bringing him onto the coaching staff could be a stroke of genius.
What’s been said?
Matteo gave his view on Jackson.
“I know the fans will all get behind Jesse and his team, and I know he’s brought Jacko (Mark Jackson) in as well, and I think that’s a very very clever addition as well. He’s worked with the club for a long time, knows the club inside out and he’s a very good coach, so I think he will be another plus for Jesse as well,” Matteo said.

Smart move
Bringing Jackson into the first-team is a smart move.
As Matteo says, he’s a great coach, and perhaps more importantly, he knows the club.
Marsch won’t have seen many of these players before, but Jackson has worked in and around Thorp Arch for years, so he can give Marsch pointers on how to handle each player and what their best traits are.
Promoting Jackson could be one of the most important moves Marsch makes at Leeds.
