Some Everton fans on social media have been hailing Jordan Pickford after his performance against Chelsea on Monday evening.
The Toffees lost 2-0 to Chelsea, but it’s hard to place any of the blame on Pickford as he was beaten by a penalty kick and an own goal.
The England international made a string of fantastic saves to keep the score down, and he has every right to count himself a little unlucky to be on the losing side.
On another day, Pickford would have been picking up a Man of the Match award and celebrating a hard-earned clean sheet, but two moments that he really couldn’t do much about consigned the Toffees to defeat.
This defeat has dented the Merseyside club’s hopes of clinching a spot in the top four, but if Pickford continues to play like this, they’re bound to be in contention come the end of the season.
