Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Albert Sambi Lokonga on the club’s official website for his performance against FC Zurich at the Emirates Stadium in North London in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.
Arteta believes that Lokonga played well for Arsenal in an advanced role in midfield, as the Gunners won 1-0.
The 23-year-old Belgium international started on the left of a midfield-three.
Arsenal boss Arteta has noted that Lokonga has developed well since his move from Anderlecht for £17.2 million (BBC Sport) in the summer transfer window.

Arteta said: “I think everyone took the opportunity. It’s true that we played him more there in pre-season.
“When we signed him, we had another idea – but in pre-season, he developed and played well in that position. Having to rest Thomas today, I think it was a good option.”

Important player for the Gunners
In our view, Albert Sambi Lokonga is an important player for Arsenal and has done well for the Gunners so far this season.
The 23-year-old is not a regular in the first team, but the Gunners midfielder has done well when he has been called into action.
The Belgian has made two starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season.
Lokonga has also played six matches in the UEFA Europa League for the Gunners so far this campaign.
