Rangers are edging closer to signing UNAM striker Eduardo Herrera.
Rangers target Eduardo Herrera
UNAM striker Eduardo Herrera has told ESPN that he is set to join Rangers on a three-year deal, and is excited to be playing in Europe.
Rangers have already brought in six new signings this summer, as manager Pedro Caixinha has moved swiftly to kickstart his Ibrox revolution ahead of the club’s Europa League campaign kicking off next week.
Portuguese defenders Bruno Alves and Fabio Cardoso joined the Gers before being joined by compatriots Dalcio and Daniel Candeias, who will offer Caixinha options out wide, whilst Ryan Jack strengthens the midfield and Colombian hitman Alfredo Morelos will be relied upon for goals.

However, that’s just a fraction of the work facing Caixinha, and two more deals are also set to go through before Rangers face Progres Niederkorn in the Europa League qualifiers nex week.
Mexican internationals Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera have both been lined up for moves to Rangers for some weeks now, with work permits and paperwork holding up their moves to Glasgow.

Striker Herrera, 28, worked with Caixinha during a loan spell with Santos Laguna, and their reunion at Ibrox now appears to be drawing ever closer after the target man commented on the deal.
Herrera – who has hit 40 goals in 137 games for UNAM – has told ESPN that he has signed a three year deal with Rangers, and he will travel to Scotland today in order to be officially announced as a Rangers player.

Herrera admitted that he is happy to have been given the opportunity to play in Europe, noting that this is a huge move for him as he prepares to play outside of Mexico for the first time in his career.
“I have signed for three years, so I am very happy for this opportunity, this new challenge in my career and with a dream fulfilled, that of being able to play in Europe,” said Herrera. “I am all ready to travel to Scotland today and to be able to do it officially. It was a negotiation of several weeks where several points were needed to process to play in the leagues of the United Kingdom.
“This represents something very big in my career and personally. Leaving your country is not easy, but in order to fulfil your dreams, you have to make certain sacrifices,” he added.
