Liverpool told ‘brilliant’ attacker other than Mane & Salah could leave

Tony Cascarino has claimed that Roberto Firmino ‘will probably go’ and leave Liverpool, as he told talkSPORT.

There is a lot of talk about Sadio Mane and Mo Salah’s future, with Cascarino making it clear that ‘change happens at big football clubs’.

It seems as though Liverpool, especially their forward line, is at a crossroads this summer and it could see big changes – Darwin Nunez is being heavily touted to join the club.

By the time the first ball is kicked for the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Mane is out of the door and Jurgen Klopp has a changed forward line to pick from.

But whilst there is a lot of talk about Mane and Salah’s future, Cascarino also touched upon the ‘brilliant’ Firmino.

“If Liverpool lose top player, then I believe in Fenway group, in the recruitment team and the manager to look at the team and say ‘well Alisson is going to stay, he’s the number one keeper in the Premier League,” said Cascarino.

“Then you have the back four. Then you can go into the midfield. I keep going on and on. Liverpool aren’t going to have a bad season.

“This team racked up 92 points, yes Salah and Mane were important. I trust the football club, if they lose certain individuals, they will still be in a really good position to challenge again.

“They can lose Firmino, I think he will probably go. So you are looking at another guy that has been brilliant for Liverpool over the years. Change happens at big football clubs.”

FIRMINO HAS FALLEN DOWN THE PECKING ORDER

For a number of years, Mane, Firmino and Salah were Liverpool’s main and most-threatening front three.

It helped them win the Premier League title, as well as the Champions League trophy in Madrid.

But during the past 12 months, Diogo Jota has taken Firmino’s place, or pushed ahead of him, whilst Luis Diaz was earning more game time than Firmino during the second half of the last campaign.

Although the Brazil star was also injured for a while, it does seem as though he has fallen down the pecking order, but his value to the team is still pretty high.
