Ian Wright has praised Sergio Reguilon on Match of the Day Two, which was broadcast on the BBC, saying that he had another brilliant game for Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Reguilon helped Tottenham pick up a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, with the Spanish forward’s rampaging runs from left-back catching the eye.

Tottenham seem to have really tightened up at the back recently, and they have now conceded just one goal in their last three Premier League matches.

And Wright was impressed by both Eric Dier and Reguilon at the weekend.

“His [Dier’s] defensive awareness today was brilliant and just what they needed. They needed to dig in,” Wright said.

“People will say he should be in those positions, but it’s different when you’re in the game.

“You see Reguilon there, who had another brilliant game, getting forward, but he was across there to cover him. He was in the right place and the right time today, every single time.”

Reguilon has really endeared himself to Tottenham since he arrived from Real Madrid.

The 23-year-old has been a real upgrade at left-back, and his crossing quality has already been clear.

Reguilon has two assists in his first four Premier League appearances this term, and that tally is likely to grow considerably as the season progresses, especially if Harry Kane keeps up his red-hot form.

Tottenham’s win over West Brom has lifted them up to second in the Premier League table, heading into the international break.
