Dorrans’ topsy-turvy time at Rangers continues to come under threat.

Graham Dorrans has endured a rough ride since he was brought to Rangers by Pedro Caixinha in the summer of 2017. Just 23 appearances later, he may have played his last game for Steven Gerrard’s side.
That is because The Daily Mirror have claimed on their live blog (15:09, December 3) that Rangers are interested in making a shock move for Everton playmaker Kieran Dowell in the January window.
Dowell, 21, is considered one of Everton’s brightest prospects and has broken into the Toffees’ first team on a number of occasions in his short career – playing twice this season under Marco Silva.
The England youth international was on loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest last season, where he scored 10 goals from midfield and added another five assists.
However, he remains behind the likes of Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Bernard and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the pecking order at Goodison Park and Steven Gerrard is looking to take advantage of that by raiding his old foes for Dowell.
Rangers have landed plenty of midfielders since Gerrard arrived, bringing in Scott Arfield, Ovie Ejaria and Lassana Coulibaly, who all sit ahead of Dorrans. Jordan Rossiter, Ross McCrorie and Ryan Jack are also likely to be above Dorrans.

Landing Dowell and adding another player to that list is only going to worsen Dorrans’ chances of first-team football when he finally recovers from the knee surgery he underwent earlier in the season.
Dorrans, 31, has a contract at Rangers until the end of the 2019-20 season but with Gerrard already becoming notorious for his faith in younger players, Dowell will only decrease Dorrans’ chances of making a 24th appearance.
