Sebastien Haller isn’t the only former West Ham United man enjoying a new lease of life away from the London Stadium.

Dan Kemp may not be finding the net with as much regularity as Ajax’s £20 million record signing but, since completing his January switch to Leyton Orient, the 22-year-old midfielder has wasted little time in making a name for himself in new surroundings.

On Saturday, Kemp produced his third assist in just five games as Orient defeated title-chasing Newport County away in League Two.

And what an assist it was – a perfectly-weighted cross, driven across the penalty box for the grateful Connor Wilkinson to tap home at the far post.

In total, Kemp has produced nine goals and assists in all competitions in 2020/21, beginning life at Leyton Orient like he ended a spell at Blackpool in the first half of the campaign.

“He can dribble with the ball. He’s got three assists now. (It was) a lovely ball across for Wilkinson,” former Hammers ace Dean Ashton told Quest’s EFL Highlights show (20 March, 9pm).

“He’s aggressive in the way he attacks, he can dribble with the ball, he can get past players. He can dribble in the way he defends, looking to arrive late in the box – all things he’s trying to add to his game.”

A former England U20 international, Kemp still has a long way to go if he wants to prove he deserved a chance in the first-team picture at West Ham.

But he’s certainly going about things in the right way.

Here’s what some Leyton Orient fans had to say about Kemp’s performance on Saturday:
