Mikel Arteta has told Football London that Bukayo Saka has had ‘another test’ and he will decide if he is available for Arsenal’s clash against Olympiacos today.
The 19-year-old limped off injured at half-time during Arsenal’s North London derby win on Sunday.
Luckily for Arsenal supporters, his injury wasn’t anything too serious.
But for today’s second leg showdown in the Europa League, it seems as though the versatile attacker is touch and go.
“We were doing another test,” said Arteta. “He felt something muscular.
“He’s been doing much, much better and evolving really well so we will make the decision this afternoon (Wednesday) on what we will do.”
In truth, even if Saka passes any tests, it is perhaps best to put him on the bench and hope that he’s not needed.
At the age of 19, Saka is now Arsenal’s main player, which sounds ridiculous given his age.
But that’s the responsibility he has on his shoulders now and it would be helpful if those around him would ease that burden on the youngster.
The minutes on the pitch won’t stop for Saka because after this week’s football is over, the versatile technician is then expected to link up with his country for their forthcoming international matches.
