Stan Collymore has said that Declan Rice should join Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United, not Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

The former Liverpool striker has written in CaughtOffSide that Rice should snub interest from Arsenal and Chelsea and move to Manchester United instead in the summer transfer window.

The pundit is aware that his advice for Rice would annoy Arsenal fans.

Collymore rates the West Ham United midfielder highly, and believes that he would be perfect for Manchester United.

The Daily Star reported last weekend that Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea all are keen on signing the England international midfielder.

Arsenal target Declan Rice told to join Manchester United

Collymore wrote: “He’s obviously in demand and is likely to be at the centre of a summer battle but I actually think going to Manchester United would be the best move for Declan Rice.

“I know that may annoy some Arsenal fans due to the Gunners being so heavily linked with him, but with West Ham wanting £120m, I’m not convinced they’re going to have the money to get a deal done.

“I’m not saying Arsenal can’t afford to spend £120m, but you would assume that would be the bulk of their budget, so should they put all their eggs in one basket? – I’m not so sure because in order for them to continue to improve, they’re going to need more than one big signing.”

The pundit added: “But for Manchester United, Rice is the exact type of midfielder they’ve been crying out for, for years. He’s powerful, dynamic and can run box-to-box for days.”

In demand

Declan Rice is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, and we are not at all surprised that Arsenal and Manchester United want to sign him.

Now, Arsenal reportedly believe that they are in pole position for Rice, but you just never know.

Manchester United are arguably the biggest club in England, and if they get into the UEFA Champions League for next season, then they could be hugely appealing to Rice.

Yes, Arsenal could win the Premier League title this season, but the Red Devils have ambition to do the same under manager Erik ten Hag in the coming years.

We believe that Rice has a big decision to make in regard to the club he should join if he left West Ham in the summer transfer window.
