Earlier today, Leeds made an announcement regarding Jesse Marsch and the American’s backroom staff, as appointments were confirmed.
The 48-year-old has brought Franz Schiemer and Cameron Toshack with him to Yorkshire, although there have also been some interior promotions.
What’s the story?
Well, in addition to bringing in a few of his own trusted coaches, Marsch has decided to promote Under-23 boss Mark Jackson to the first-team.
The 44-year-old has overseen the development of players such as Joe Gelhardt and Crysencio Summerville, both of whom are now involved in first-team duties.
Leeds describe Jackson as a popular figure at Elland Road in their announcement, so the decision should go down well with the first-team players Marcelo Bielsa has left behind.
In our view, this move could lead to more debuts for those shining in the Under-23 setup, as Jackson knows them all like the back of his hand.
Jesse Marsch has made a good decision for Leeds

Marsch doesn’t have much time to turn Leeds around this season, with just 11 games remaining.
Therefore, it is imperative that he gets to grips with his players as soon as possible, something Jackson should be able to assist with greatly.
It is vital for the American to have someone alongside him who knows plenty about Leeds, as it should help the transition from Bielsa to Marsch.

Promoting Jackson also says a lot about Marsch’s character.
An egotistical manager would potentially have too much trust in their abilities, and refuse help from those already at Elland Road.
However, the fact Marsch has called on Jackson for help suggests he is open to learning in Yorkshire, which bodes well for the club’s future.
