Some Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the appointment of Gavin Strachan as the club’s first-team coach.
Celtic have announced on their official website this evening (5:15pm) that Strachan is joining Neil Lennon’s backroom staff “with immediate effect”.
The son of former Celtic boss Gordon Strachan was working as the assistant manager to Darren Ferguson at Peterborough United in League One in England.
The 41-year-old, who has worked at Doncaster Rovers as well, will replace Damien Duff in the Hoops’ backroom staff.
Some Celtic fans are delighted with the appointment, and they have now urged the club to complete the signing of Ivan Toney from the Posh, as shown in the following posts on Twitter.
Peterborough director of football Barry Fry told The Daily Mail (print edition, page 79, June 9, 2020) that he has been told by agents that Celtic want to sign Toney in the summer transfer window.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the 24-year-old former Newcastle United striker scored 24 goals and provided six assists in 32 League One games for Peterborough this season.
