Thomas Christiansen should consider making an alteration to his side after defeat to Wolves.
Leeds United fell to a disappointing 4-1 defeat away to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship last night, with Gaetano Berardi amongst the players who struggled for Thomas Christiansen’s side.
Berardi is much more comfortable at right-back but the Swiss defender has been filling in at left-back of late due to Leeds’ lack of options in that position.
Against Wolves, as Leeds fell to their fourth Championship defeat in their last five matches, Berardi was frequently caught out of position and it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise if Christiansen was to consider dropping him for Saturday’s game away to Barnsley.
If such a scenario transpires then Vurnon Anita, who was an unused substitute last night, is a candidate to fill in at left-back.
Despite mainly being a central midfielder by trade, much of Anita’s Leeds football has been played at left-back, and the Dutchman would certainly be eager to seize his opportunity should he return to the starting line-up.
It is clear that something needs to change at Leeds as if they continue to perform with such inconsistency there is certainly a serious danger that they could yet again miss out on securing a place in the play-offs.
